This September marks the 25th annual National Recovery Month. Locally on September 20, 2014 beginning 8am at the City Park Festival Grounds, Action Against Addiction will host the 3rd annual Walk4Recovery. Action Against Addiction urges you to join in showing your support for those who have found the pathway to recovery. When you do, not only are you helping erase the stigma of this brain disease, you are also helping us to raise needed funds for substance abuse prevention services.
Addiction is the leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds, responsible for 50 percent of all deaths on Louisiana’s highways and is the driving force behind most violent crime. It is paralyzing the economic growth of our community. At an all-time high in our country, prescription drug abuse causes one death every 19 minutes! Yet, addiction remains in the shadows until sometimes it’s too late. Your support may help us save a life.
All proceeds will benefit Action Against Addiction, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit prevention program with a community-based board of directors that delivers evidence-based substance abuse prevention programs to several thousand public and private school students, parent and community groups.
